personality

ran is often described as cool and beautiful with a mature aura about her. many fans nicknamed her the "beautiful blade" for her beauty and how sharp her personality was in comparison to the other rising idols at the time.

ran's seriousness is a result of how deeply passionate and dedicated she is to her idol work and training. sometimes she can be short-tempered, especially when others shirk their responsibilities or it's made obvious they aren't putting in their full efforts. when she's helping her friends train, she'll bring out her "demon coach" side and be extra hard on them. ran's not the type to beat around the bush or go easy when giving feedback.

although some see her as unapproachable and unfriendly at first, ran is ultimately a kind and caring person. she doesn't open up easily to strangers, but once you've become her friend then she's going to do anything it takes to ensure you have her trust, loyalty, and honesty. she's humble about her work, and she isn't the type to brag about her accomplishments.

she's a bit of a tsundere! ran doesn't like it when people treat her too cutely, for example she doesn't always like being called "ran-chan." there are, of course, a few people who can get away with it. in addition, she's a superfan of ebi-pon and gets bashful when you point it out to her.

history/canon

» ran was a child model and began working in fashion at a young age. she was often modeling for young girls and boys fashion. at the time, there were critics who said that young models were not beautiful; this drove her to refine her modeling skills, refine her own sense of beauty, and prove the critics wrong.

» ran auditioned and was accepted into starlight academy, a famous idol school for middle and high schoolers, and started middle school. while starlight academy's curriculum focuses on all aspects of entertainment, ran particularly pursued fashion and modeling. the classes at the academy helped her develop a sense of style, an eye for coordination, and modeling.

» early in ran's first middle school year, she was great friends with her roommate mako. however, their friendship fell apart when the two realized ran was getting further ahead towards her dreams. mako became less confident and, as a result, dropped out of the academy. ran was alone now and blamed herself.

» so she decided to steel herself, and never allow herself to feel that way again. by closing her heart off to potential friends and partners, ran tried to save herself from the guilt and loneliness that would come if something happened in the future. she was known to be cold and anti-social.
